This past Sunday we hosted our first ever Cupcake Wars event. We had 38 people participate and the studio was booming with creativity. We revealed the theme for the day: FALL and provided candy corn and leaf sprinkles that had to be used somewhere in the 4 cupcakes. Cupcakes were judged based on creativity, technique, and attention to theme. Since there were so many participants we split the awards into two categories: 17 and up, 16 and under. Everyone was given 10 minutes to consult the audience and use social media once the theme was announced. Then they were forbidden to discuss with anyone or use their devices for one full hour of decorating battle. The amount of creativity that was brought to the event was incredible. People decorated Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Lattes, UGG boots, acorns, squirrels, many different pumpkins, football themed cupcakes, kids jumping into leaves, bonfires, and so much more! Judges included Jill Beamon (manager at My Make Studio), Linda Sudowski (owner of My Make Studio), and Michaela Johnson (head pastry chef at Nothing Bundt Cakes). Winners won a free class at My Make Studio with studio hostess Chayla Turner and 2 runner ups got 50% off a class. Chayla Turner was of course the host of the incredible event and she definitely dressed her part. She announced time, asked competitors questions, and provided certificates to the winners. Mimosas and hot apple cider were flying off the tables as well! We so enjoyed this event and if you missed out don't worry, we're having another one January 21st!
